Now I don't know if they revamped the magic side of combat but just after EoC was released I had trouble even killing ganodermic beasts where I could spend hours on end killing them before. The entire use of magic and spells was horribly ineffective even with optimized mage gear, master wand arcane shield full gano with ragefire boots and I still had major issues even landing hits.
